Membership with ADLS to become a Qualified Member is available to persons if they possess a legal qualification at least at the level of Bachelor of Laws from a university in New Zealand or an equivalent legal qualification from a foreign university, and who are engaged or interested in the law but do not hold a current New Zealand practising certificate.

The 2019/20 membership term runs from 1 February 2019 to 31 January 2020. The membership fee for this term is $225 plus GST per Qualified Member. Applications from eligible persons may be accepted at any time during the year and the membership fee will be calculated on a pro-rata basis for any part-year.
Note: All membership applications submitted to ADLS will require verification and may take time to finalise.
It is important to note that only Lawyer Members and Qualified Members are eligible to vote and be nominated for Council. Any person who was either an eligible Local Member or Regional Member of ADLS at the time of the recent Rule changes will automatically become a Lawyer Member for the purposes of the new Rules, and for the purpose of eligibility to nominate and stand for office.
Membership fees paid to ADLS are non-refundable if a member decides to terminate their membership part way through the membership period.
