Thompson Blackie Biddles
**POSITION FILLED** Casual, paid opportunity - Law Firm Office Assistant
Thompson Blackie Biddles is a leading specialist commercial property law firm based in Auckland’s CBD. They deliver the highest quality legal advice to ensure their work achieves the strategic objectives of their clients. Their clients include NZX listed property trusts and entities, multinational organisations, corporate receivers, commercial property developers and high net worth individuals.
Thompson Blackie Biddles is looking to recruit a law student for a paid Office Assistant position.
This role is key to the firm’s support function, as it provides assistance with both firm and client administration. The role will require you to work with some autonomy, but with some client contact, interaction with the firm’s lawyers, day to day support from the Office Administrator / Legal Secretary, and you will report to the Practice Manager.
This is a busy and varied role including:
- file management – opening and closing files, generating reporting statements, printing and filing documents, archiving
- printing, copying and binding documents
- mail and courier management
- greeting clients, making tea/coffee, answering phones
- updating the client database
- ensuring the premises are tidy and presentable, office machines are functioning and well stocked of supplies
Your employment will be casual to provide both parties with flexibility. At this stage, the firm would like you to work on Thursdays and Fridays though they are willing for you to work around lectures / university commitments on those days. On that basis, they envisage the role could be up to 16 hours per week, but it will be less if part days are worked. Their volume of work and your schedule / commitments will likely change over time so they would discuss this on an ongoing basis and aim to work flexibly together.
It would be preferable for you to be in the middle years of law school so that you are in a position to commit to this role for a year or more and TBB thinks you will enjoy and learn more from this role if you have a particular interest in property.
Ideally, you will have some relevant, quality administrative experience. You will be professional and polished in your presentation and communication. You will be reliable, conscientious, organised and attentive to detail, delivering all work to the highest standard. Confident, personable, with a “can-do” attitude, you will quickly and easily build lasting relationships with the Directors and staff and become a trusted and valued member of the team.
This role is available, for an “as soon as possible” start.
Thompson Blackie Biddles is located at Level 29, SAP Tower, 151 Queen Street, Auckland.
