Changing of the guard at Law News

Lisa Clark                 Today we announce the departure of Sarah Watt, Editor of Law News, as she fast-tracks her planned secondary school teaching career.

Sarah has been at the helm of our weekly newsletter since February 2013, on an interim basis, having already accepted a place on the 2014 Teach First NZ cohort. She has spent this year juggling her university studies with her ADLS editing duties with our knowledge and full support of her ultimate career goal.

In November, Sarah commences Teach First training, which will prepare her for a new career in the classroom teaching English in a low decile school. Sarah leaves ADLS with our heartfelt thanks for her significant contribution to Law News and our very best wishes for the future. The last issue of Law News under Sarah’s editorship will be Friday 1 November. We have received very positive feedback about Law News during her time as Editor and we acknowledge the improvements she has brought about.

With Sarah’s departure, ADLS has appointed a new Editor on a permanent basis, Lisa Clark, BA, LLB (Hons). Lisa is a corporate lawyer by trade and has also worked in the legal publishing industry. After taking time out to start a family Lisa is returning to the workforce and a role at ADLS that combines both of these aspects of her prior work experience.

Lisa started her career in Auckland working in litigation, before moving to London to work as a publishing editor for a leading UK firm of specialist legal publishers covering subjects such as aviation, energy, telecommunications and intellectual property across a range of book, subscription, journal, loose leaf and major work titles. Her career then brought her back to
New Zealand where she has most recently worked as a senior solicitor in the corporate and commercial arena. Sarah and Lisa previously worked together in legal publishing and we are confident the standards Sarah has achieved will be continued.

ADLS is delighted to have Lisa on board and we welcome her warmly to Law News and our organisation.
