Environment and Resource Management Law

The ADLS Environment & Resource Management Committee monitors legal development in the fields of resource management, local government and environment law. It assists the profession by way of regular updates, articles and training on the practical implications for the profession of the many developments in environment and RMA legislation and policy. This committee has a national membership that encompasses academic, local government and private practice lawyers who specialise in environment and resource management law.

To consider any matters relating to environment and resource management affecting Members of ADLS and to report to the Council of ADLS on such matters.

To liaise directly with government agencies and institutions on environment and resource management issues to promote good legal practice in the interests of the profession and the public.

To prepare submissions on behalf of ADLS on commercial law issues and to liaise with the President on statements to the profession or the public.

Kenneth Palmer is an Associate Professor of Law at the University of Auckland. His special interests are in resource management and local government law. He is the author of Local Authorities Law in New Zealand (Brookers 2012), and editor of the New Zealand Journal of Environmental Law.
