Today at all levels of sporting activity we see an ever-increasing awareness of legal rights and obligations; this means that lawyers are much more likely to be called in to advise.
This seminar will help you deal with the difficult inquiries which may come in, whether from clients or family friends.
After an introduction to the scope of sports law in 2020, the presenters will take you through practical examples of the problems which may arise in sport whether at community or elite level.
The topics will include bullying and misconduct; selection in sport and resolution of selection disputes in the New Zealand Sports Tribunal; gender issues; and problems in junior and school sport (such as poaching, side-line behaviour and supplements).
- The nature and scope of modern sports law and the development of sports-specific legal principles and regulation.
- The framework of rules and contracts which will apply to issues arising at national and local level.
- The nature of sports law disputes and how to consider their resolution in a practical way.
