Ciska is a Consultant and works with Simpson Grierson in their Food and Beverage Team.  She also runs her own consultancy, Essence Compliance, advising small to medium companies in the food and beverage space.  

Ciska has developed a particular focus on all aspects of sales and marketing together with food law, including advice on composition, labelling and advertising of food and beverages.

Ciska is uniquely placed in that she has both a science and law degree and has practiced law in both New Zealand and Australia.  She now provides specific compliance advice in the food and beverage space across both these jurisdictions. 

Valerie Adams

Valerie has a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Canterbury and a Postgraduate Diploma in Business from the University of Auckland. She is also certified as a Food Safety Lead auditor in quality management systems, food safety management systems and management system auditing as well as leading management audit teams. Her most recent achievement was successfully completing MPI’s pilot programme to become an Evaluator under the Food Act 2014.

Valerie has over 25 years’ experience, with 15 of these in auditing, for several of Australasia’s largest food manufacturers in the snack foods, beverage, packaging and dairy industries as well as for a major European bakery.


As Company Director, she leads a team of Consultants specialising in Food Safety.  Valerie's expertise is working with various food industries to achieve MPI approved Food Control and Risk Management Programmes. 

Phil Szpera
Compliance Assurance & Labelling Specialist

Phil is employed by All Systems Go as both a Consultant and Technical Manager. He holds MPI accreditation for both Verification and Evaluation under the Food Act 2014.

Phil has built his experience both in Europe and New Zealand in various industries such as food manufacturing and services, pharmaceutical and phytosanitary products. 

Phil has a Master’s Degree in Microbiology specialising in Food Safety, Quality Management, and Microbiological Processes.
