The Library and Research Centre has one main library, in the Auckland High Court building, and ten branch libraries housed in Courts throughout the Auckland district. The Auckland High Court Library and the Whangarei High Court Branch Library are staffed regularly; the other libraries are generally unstaffed. Library collections, access to databases and photocopying services are provided at most of the branches. See information about each library by clicking on the llnks below.

After-hours access
Your ADLS membership card can be enabled for access to the Library after hours, using the Anzac Avenue door. After-hours access costs $25.00 per year. Please contact the Library if you would like to enable after-hours access.
The Auckland and Whangarei High Court Libraries and the Auckland District Court Library are the only regularly staffed libraries. Please direct all enquiries to the Auckland High Court Library.

Go in main court entrance (corner of Kingston and Albert Sts) and take the lift to the third floor. Directly opposite the lift is a door marked 'Solicitors Only'. This is the Library. Use the door code to enter.

Access is by card (issued by the court security staff on the ground floor). This card can be activated to obtain access to the Papakura and Pukekohe District Courts as well as Manukau. The Library is to the back and to the left side of the building when entering through the main door. Access through the external door is no longer available during court hours. Entry after hours is limited to card holders.

Access is through two restricted doors using a proximity card at the first door and then a PIN code at the library door. Enter the court through the far entrance. Go across the court waiting area and use the proximity card to access the courtyard. Walk across the small courtyard and in front of you is the Library - Use the PIN code for door entry.

Enter the Court and walk diagonally across the Court foyer towards the left down a short hall to a door with 'Private' on it. Use a door code to enter, then go down the corridor. The door to the library room is at the end of the corridor on the left.

The Library is the second door on the left as you enter the public foyer of the Thames District Court. It is labelled "Law Library". If the door is locked a key can be obtained from the Registrar. Practitioners may have after-hours access to the Library by applying for a key ($25.00 p/a).

Access:
Whangarei High Court Library is accessed at all times by door card only, from within the building and from the outside entrance, which is also useable after hours. Permanent door cards may be ordered from Karen Gardner on phone 09 438 8201.
The Library is situated at the left-hand end, ground floor, of the court building (facing the court from the road). It can be accessed without entering the main courthouse by a small alleyway at the left of the building.
