Overview of ADLSI

ADLS has a proud tradition spanning more than 135 years, initially as the Law Society for the Auckland District, and latterly, from October 2012, as an independent membership organisation with a national focus.

Supported by a membership of around 4,000 members, with an unsurpassed knowledge of the law and a commitment to make that available to the public, ADLS operates 16 legal committees, delivers a highly regarded CPD programme, produces and maintains over 150 widely used legal forms including the Agreement for Sale and Purchase of Real Estate and the Commercial Deed of Lease, operates a successful online WebForms portal, as well as an inspired calendar of collegiality events to connect the profession.  In addition it produces a weekly hard copy legal publication, Law News distributed to about 4,000 subscribers, and a weekly e-bulletin covering 10 legal cases, subscribed to by almost 10,000 legal professionals. Both publications are provided free to ADLS members. ADLS has a distinctive and active Members Benefits programme, and recently partnered with Air New Zealand's Airpoints programme, offering ADLS members Airpoints Dollars on eligible purchases from ADLS.

In 2013 ADLS launched the market leading online CPD Plan and Record tool to support the legal profession as it embarked on Mandatory CPD, (mandatory CPD for lawyers was introduced in New Zealand in April 2014. Access to this tool is free for ADLS members.

ADLS is committed to extending their support beyond the Auckland region and delivers their flagship conference Cradle to Grave in the South Island.
