If you hold a current practising certificate as a barrister or solicitor issued by the Society, then you are a Member of the Society and are eligible for all of the services and benefits it offers.

Every person who is a holder of a current practising certificate as a barrister or solicitor which is issued by the Society shall be a Member of the Society whether or not that person applies for membership of the Society, provided that the Council may exempt any such person from membership of the Society subject to any conditions which the Council may impose.

Every person who, up to the expiry of that person's current practising certificate, was a Member of the Society and who remains enrolled as a barrister or solicitor and continues to practise after the expiry of the said certificate without a further practising certificate being issued to that person shall remain as a Member of the Society until that person ceases to practise or has a practising certificate issued from outside the Society's district.
