The Council of Auckland District Law Society Inc may appoint any person as a Distinguished Member of the Society, as an expression of the esteem in which that person is held by members of the profession of the district.

A Distinguished Member shall be appointed for life. There shall be no more than 30 Distinguished Members living at any one time. Distinguished Members who hold practising certificates must pay whatever fees and levies and other charges Members are liable to pay.

Distinguished Members who do not hold practising certificates are eligible for such privileges and services as are provided for Associate Members, without payment of any entrance fee or annual subscription (as may be fixed by the Council under Rule 5.9).
