With effect from the conclusion of the Society's Annual General Meeting in 2010 the Council shall consist of a President and eight legally qualified councillors, all of whom shall be local or regional Members of the Society. In addition to the President and the legally qualified councillors constituting the Council, the Council may at any time appoint an independent councillor to the Council.
The Council is elected annually and holds office until the election of its successor.
