The ADLS Council consists of a President, one Recently Admitted Member (RAM), one member from Lawyers in Commerce and the public sector, one Member practising in the Northern area, one Member practising in the Counties-Coromandel area, one Member practising in the Suburban area and twelve other Members, all of whom must be Members of the Society.

The Council is elected annually and holds office until the election of its successor.
