Thank you to the Committee members for their hard work over the course of 2007 and to Karen Sussock for picking up secretarial duties at short notice part way through the year.

The Commercial Law Committee is a newly convened committee this year out of the Property and Business Law Committee and has therefore introduced much stronger commercial law element to its focus than the historical property flavour that the Property and Business Law Committee had.

As this theme has developed, we have considered significantly more wide ranging issues and in particular this year have focused on matters relating to Financial Reporting Products and Providers and Commerce Act and Competition Law issues.

Our aim is for this Committee to grow its credibility as a commentator on commercial law issues and increase its visibility so that there are greater opportunities for commercial law practitioners in Auckland to provide comment, feedback and generally to raise issues that are concerning to them.
